Power Rolling

At Fast Forward Enterprises Inc., we combine over two decades of experience with skilled attention to detail to create the metal products you need for your company and project. We have a wide range of metalworking capabilities to complete your designs, and one of these key techniques is power rolling.

How Power Rolling Works

Power rolling involves passing a piece of metal stock through a single roller or a pair of rollers. These rollers apply pressure to the metal, decreasing its thickness and creating a smooth, even surface. Similar to how a baker rolls pizza dough, this process flattens and smooths the metal to the desired thickness.

Power rolling is categorized by the temperature of the metal during the process. Hot rolling occurs when the metal is heated above its recrystallization temperature. This is highly effective for processing large amounts of metal tonnage. In contrast, cold rolling is performed when the metal is below its recrystallization temperature, making it ideal for high-tonnage cold metalworking.

Other Types of Power Rolling

Our capabilities also include other specialized forms of power rolling, such as roll bending, ring rolling, controlled rolling, roll forming, and profile rolling. Each technique is tailored to a specific metal, temperature, and project requirement. With these methods, our rolling mills can transform metal and steel into various forms, including bar stock, rails, and structural steel like I-beams and channel stock.
